The main thing when painting a cloudy day is to use your eyes to try to see what's really there. Always compare areas to see if they are darker, lighter, warmer, or cooler than other areas. It was important to continuously compare the tones. I could see in the theme that my pontoons and my walkway were lighter than water, so I washed them a second time in the water, again using Winsor blue (green tone) with magenta quinacridone, painting around the light pontoons.
I left clear lines from the first wash that suggested a little movement in the water. Mitch, it's always a pleasure to see the subtlety of your paintings and to read your great comments and advice.
